Remember on your Doorstep

Please stay at home and remember on your doorstep for this year.  You can watch a live tribute by clicking here to view Audley St James Facebook page. Listen out for the church bells toll from St James at 11am and the trumpets from Audley Brass and then you’re invited to join Audley St James Facebook page at 11.02am for a Memorial Tribute from Audley Brass, Audley Male Voice Choir, Ravensmead School and St James Church.

If any individual wishes to lay a wreath, please ensure the restrictions allow you to do this and if so, ensure it is at a quiet time (avoiding peak times e.g. morning of 8th and 11th November).

Thank you for your understanding.

Updated Restrictions for MUGAs, Skateparks and Outdoor Gyms which must close

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Parish Play Areas are open (as at 5th November 2020) but MUGAS, Outdoor gym equipment and Skate parks must close

The Government have now issued updated guidance (as at 5th November 2020) on play areas and outdoor gyms, plus how to minimise the risk of Covid-19 when using play areas. You can see it here at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-managing-playgrounds-and-outdoor-gyms/covid-19-guidance-for-managing-playgrounds-and-outdoor-gyms

We have worked hard to get the play areas ready to reopen following the first lockdown and most reopened from Saturday 4th July 2020 (with Halmer End on 22nd July 2020).  During the second lockdown from 5th November all play areas remain open with the exception of Queen Street (CARA) which will stay closed due restrictions on the skate park and outdoor gym equipment, Miles Green play area outdoor gym equipment (only) will be closed and also Rileys Field MUGA.

Need help getting about? Audley Rural Parish Council has subsidisded the Door2Door Community Transport Scheme

Door2Door Community Transport Scheme in Audley Rural Parish

Do you need help getting about?  Do you know someone who needs help getting about?

Audley Rural Parish Council have now subsidised the costs to use the Door2Door community transport scheme to help those who need it the most.  We want to help those who do not have any means of transport, support and cannot use public transport due to health, medical and in some cases for financial hardship reasons.  If you need help to get to an important medical appointment, essential shopping supplies or even just to get out and meet other people – call 01782 621936, visit the website at www.door2doortransport.org.uk or email info@door2doortransport.org.uk for assistance.

Do you enjoy helping others, have spare time and a vehicle?

The scheme works best when we have a bank of local volunteer drivers to help.  Do you have spare time, a vehicle and like helping people who need it most?  All expenses are covered such as mileage and parking.  Please click on the below images for more information.

Remembrance Day

Sadly, this year we are unable to hold a Remembrance Day service for all to attend

Please stay at home and Remember on your Doorstep

Current Coronavirus restrictions stop large gatherings of people outdoors, due to the risk of spreading the infection especially in the rapid increase in hospital admissions.  If a large crowd gathers, then the Police have the powers to stop events from happening and/or issue a £10,000 fine. We fully understand that this news will upset lots who would usually pay their respects for lost loved ones in the wars.  We have a duty of care to protect our vulnerable and elderly in the community by limiting the spread of infection.

We will still remember them at 11am, but it will be a very small wreath laying service that will take place on the morning of Sunday 8th November (unless measures change).  This will be by invite only and will include only those from armed forces, local community organisations and emergency services.

If you know of any war veterans, military, ex-military personnel and emergency services who may wish to be included in this invite only event, please contact the Parish Council on 07901 692414 as soon as possible.

We apologise in advance for the closure of the roads at both sites between 10.30am and 11.30am on Sunday 8th November 2020.

All other people are asked to stay at home and remember on their doorstep for this year.  You can watch the service live at https://www.facebook.com/stjamesaudley

The day before (Saturday) you can leave your wreath at St James Church for Audley, St Johns Church, Halmer End Methodist Church or Audley Methodist Church. Alternatively, households have the chance to spend 2 minutes in silence at Audley cenotaph one after the other in the afternoon of Remembrance Sunday.  This is being organised by the Churches, please go to the St James Audley Facebook Page to sign up for a slot and read the safety instructions carefully.

Please do not attend unless it is by pre-arranged agreement.
